An accomplished communications professional with experience in an array of state agencies, Mike has years of experience in proactive and responsive media relations, responding to inquiries on a local, state and national level.

Mike most recently served as the Communications Manager for the Illinois Department of Human Rights, where he implemented communications strategies that informed the public of state anti-discrimination laws and agency developments. While serving as the agency spokesperson, he managed communication-related responsibilities, such as publications, social media, printed materials, constituent affairs inquires, and public posting requirements. Mike worked closely with staff at all levels to coordinate internal initiatives, including newsletters, operational announcements, and a quarterly employee recognition program.

Mike worked with Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice leadership and the Office of Governor Bruce Rauner during a period of historical reforms in the statewide juvenile justice model. This included initiating proactive and responsive communications strategies around such efforts as “right-sizing” the agency youth population, publicizing facility programming initiatives, and the process of closing Illinois' last maximum-security youth facility. He has also helped manage internal and external communications for the Illinois Department of Central Management Services.

Mike earned a B.A. in Political Science from Northern Illinois University, with an emphasis in Public Administration. He remains active in his community and is currently serving as President for the Rotary Club of Chicago Lakeview.
